Confucianism
Confucianism came to Korea from China and took a firm grip on the society on a number of different levels. From concepts such as filial peity, and rank structure, to the examination system that organized the govenment for so many years, Confucianism is deeply ingrained. In Sinmoo Hapkido there are Confucian ideas and traditions that permeate the art, but it serves primarily as a foundation for the physical concepts of the philosophy.
